New TV temptation
Discussion
I've been thinking about an OLED TV for some time, and am very tempted by this new Panasonic model. I like that the speakers are front facing.

Any thoughts please?

I 'hear' what you are saying, but aesthetically I don't want external speakers.
In that case go for a Sony OLED. They use the screen itself as speakers (yes really) While that sounds daft it works far better than the tiny speakers that most TVs come with. According to a test I read the sound is better than most sound bars. I can't confirm comparisons with sound bars (my 48A9 is connected to a genuine HiFi system) - but I can confirm that the TV sound is surprizingly good - not Hifi but decent.
Our LG TV sounds surprisingly good and doesn't have front spacing speakers, so I wouldn't discount rear facing automatically. You should go listen to some in person.
I do have a full denon 5.1 setup, but my partner prefers the TV audio. Partly due to not liking loud bass, but also due to an extended campaign to remove the external audio setup from the living room as with amps etc it does take up quite a bit of space.

I've got the new Sony OLED in 42" - XR42A90K - wasn't bothered about OLED but it's in the corner of our new kitchen / diner and I really didn't want a soundbar. Have a Sonos Beam with our living room TV.I'd say the sound is perfectly adequate and I'd read it doesn't work well in big spaces (room is about 20ft square). The picture is a bit hopeless in the day time as the smaller screens don't have the brightness boost that bigger ones do. Looks amazing once the sun has gone down though.
ETA: It’s the LG C2 which has brightness boost on 55” and above. Sony uses same panel but don’t know if they also boost the brightness.
