Hello,

Does anyone have any recommendations for anyone who could repair a 1991 Pioneer 6 disc changer? it seems to think there's a 7th CD and tries to change down.I also think the laser might be broken as it doesn't recognise anything in slots 1-5.

I suppose by now you’re guessing that there isn’t a known business in the area. Your best and probably only hope is finding a keen fixer upper, someone who’s keen on electronics and mechanisms.

But, if a part is needed, I’d say it’s going to be a struggle.

I doubt that it would be an economical repair under most circumstances unless the problem is easily remedied, especially if you need to add significant petrol costs to get the kit there and back, but Nick at Emporium (Bungay) probably knows some freelance repairers if he doesn’t have the in-house expertise. Might be worth dropping him a line.

Thanks, I'll give him a shout.

Suffolk Sound Services may be able to help.

Though, he's old school and mostly works with turntables, amps and the like.

The chap's a dishevelled character, who works out of a run down industrial unit near Saxstead mill.

His 'website' demonstrates the kind of chap that he is.

He's a one off who's fixed all manner of stuff for me in the past.

It's worth a phone call, I reckon.

I'm sure there was a decent HiFi repair shop on Norwich road in Ipswich some years ago but I haven't been down there for ages to confirm.

Likewise, I'm in need of some Suffolk repair action for my old B&O speakers which have dried out capacitors or something and don't work properly. I'll try the Saxstead chap, thanks! I drive past that area every day for work, so thats very handy.
