One of my kt88 tubes went pop on the left side. I’ve swapped tubes right to left but the one that went (replaced ) is showing bias at 4.5v with it turned right down frown. Google says change the bias caps! I may try and do it my self but …… would rather find a mend it mark type near Camberley in Surrey. Done really want to post as it weighs a bloody ton.

Would anyone reccomend a valve amp repairer in Surrey?

Thanks

Philvs contribution was helpful, yours less so wink bloody nice sideboards though adds up doing rooms from them and similar designers!

Couldn’t wait so bit the bullet. 10ohm resistor went pop bang.

Replaced and also ordered some new caps (Russian paper in oil ones)

And some new paint for the transformer covers.

Feeling quite pleased with myself. Changed power supply caps. The audio caps for Russian paper in oil. Have some new tubes to try too. Gave the transformer covers a paint job and the power supply caps too as they are on show. Oh and changes the blown resistor.

Sounds great again !

Yes paint job on covers needs a good wet sand and polish but it’ll do for now smile
