I was thinking of getting a Bang Olufsen speaker for the kitchen but just read about the ERA 300 being worth consideration. So i'm basically just interested in hearing of anything better for the price than the Sonos, or if anyone has any experience of the sound vs a Bang Olufsen product. Thanks

It probably depends on the size of your kitchen, we have two Sonos 1s in our kitchen which provide good sound at both ends of the room, though the ERA speakers are obviously newer and may be able replicate the effect of two separate smaller speakers.

I have an Era 300 and am very happy with it.

However its main “selling point” is it can play music in Dolby Atmos format. As far as I’m aware currently only Apple and Amazon offer this. If you don’t use either of these services you’d be paying for a capability you won’t use.

If you do get your music from Amazon or Apple and like Atmos then I’m sure you’d be very happy with the Sonos

Thanks for reply. Yes, I have Apple Music - which was one of the reasons I thought of the 300. I was reading a few reviews the other day which rate it quite highly. At the moment it’s a toss up between the HomePod 2 (I have the first HomePod at work and for the money it’s very good), the ERA 300, or an ERA 100 (I like the size and look of the 100 better than the 300).

I have an Era 100 and it currently lives in the conservatory- gives out a very good sound and better than the Bose sound touch that it replaced.

Will try it in the kitchen once we vacate the conservatory when it gets too cold in there.

I’ve not heard the 100 but have heard the previous version it replaced and it was very good… but I thought the HomePod just pips it to the post on sound quality when cranked up.

If size and looks are a consideration just be aware the 300 is pretty big (think a couple of shoe boxes), heavy and an odd shape. It won’t be particularly easy to shift around, and to get the best Atmos effect it needs a bit of space around it
