Genelec speakers - anyone have any experience with them?

I've minimised my home office; bought a new desk and the office is getting decorated on Monday & Tuesday next week; so I'd like to treat myself to a set of small monitors that will sit happily on my new desk (with proper isolation pads obviously)

Music is via my MBA / Apple Music / Spotify etc and I'll probably use something like the Focusrite Scarlet Solo as the USB/XLR interface

But which Genelec's to go for?

Max budget is £500; I'd rather buy 2nd hand/used/well looked after around the £300-£400 mark though if I can

Reason for the Genelecs - small footprint etc

But open to other suggestions too - more so ones that I could just connect straight to my MBA (USB C or 3.5mm out etc)

I’m not sure studio monitors are the best option for listening to music. They have a deliberately flat response which can make some music sound a little flat and they are designed to be revealing of any flaws in a mix. I’d be more tempted to go for something like the Kef LSX range

Having owned ADAM, JBL, Focus and Yammy monitors before; I know what my ears are tuned to and I prefer the genuine sound of monitors over coloured hifi speakers, thanks

Genelecs are a standard for neutral, dependable clarity and balance. They're also quite tough with good spares availability.

Definitely not what I'd like to use at home but each to their own.

The most obvious model being the 8020d for your spec/price.

Cheers for that; they're a possibility, but pushing the budget. Will see if there are any ex-demo or on eBay

As said, monitors are my go-to now really - I've just sold my JBL 308P MkIIs, they were bloody superb monitors and replaced KEF R3s with a Cyrus One Cast amp, they were that good!

Mucu better than the Yammy's and Focus monitors I've had; as good as the ADAM A8Xs I had, just not as bright, which suited me well
