Hi

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

My daughter has my old cd player and Cambridge Audio Azur 340A SE Integrated amplifier which plays the CDs perfectly.
I have just bought her an old turntable because she is showing an interest in vinyl.

However I can’t get the turntable to work. (The volume needs to be turned to max to get a very low level of sound through the speakers.)
I thought that as the amplifier is integrated I would not need a pre amplifier is this correct? or will that be my problem?

Many thanks
Andy

That will indeed be your problem. Some amps have the necessary built in, but if you’re plugging the turntable into a normal line in then you’ll need a pre amp, or a turntable that outputs at line level.

You'll just need a 'phono preamp' - starting at about £15 on Amazon.
