Hi

We are looking to replace our TV after it was broken. We have a 65 2021 Samsung frame and are looking to spend up to £1300 for 65/75 . The only stipulation is that I needs to be John Lewis OR Currys.

What are your suggestions

- dark ish room
- movies / sport and gaming
- I have a Sonos sound bar so sound not an issue
- I use a Apple TV 4K for most the content

AV forums seem to be loving the TCL brand. I have never heard of these reviews look good.

What are your thoughts?

Thought it had to be from John Lewis?

Given my and family members experience of buying from Curry's ... I think John Lewis is your better bet, certainly if things go wrong.

For a darkish room consider LG OLED but you will need to increase your budget.

Reason for this is your current TV is only 4 years old but a better set should last 10+ years. My LG OLED is 2019 and still going strong. The TV it replaced lasted 11 years.

Also look at Richer Sounds over JL

You should be able to get the 65" LG OLED C5 for just less than £1,400

Not relevant but it looks like TCL and Sony are merging the TV business.

Richer Sounds shows it as £1,399 with the online promo code https://www.richersounds.com/lg-oled65c56lb/ Note this is the LB, the LA is also shown as the same price. Essentially there is no difference but different end codes are used so that competing sellers can claim it's a different TV so won't price match if the full model number doesn't match.

OP has £1300 credit to use at John Lewis or Currys....I don't think that they will price match.

So unless they want to put in their own money, the only 3 choices (for 65" OLED) at JL are:

LG - OLED65B56LA
Samsung - QE65S85F
Panasonic - TV-65Z80AEY

Or at Currys:

Panasonic - TV-65Z85AEB
Hisense - 65A85QTUK
Philips - 65OLED760/12
