TV choice help - 43inch
Discussion
Hello
I’m looking for a 43 inch TV (can’t be any bigger due to room size).
Criteria are:
Under £300
From Curry’s (I have a voucher to use)
The two I am trying to decide between are:
Hisense QLED:
https://www.currys.co.uk/products/hisense-e7q-43-q...
Samsung UHD: https://www.currys.co.uk/products/samsung-u8000f-4...
Any advice for a complete TV buying novice?!? It will be on WiFi only for streaming/screen mirroring from iPhone but they both seem capable of that.
Happy to receive other suggestions as long as available from Curry’s!
Thank you - any advice much appreciated!

Or this LG, it has an extra 10% off taking it to £300:

If the upscaling is any good and you aren't sitting 2 feet from it and the regular 1080p image is reasonable then you don't need 4K sources on a 43" screen as you really wont notice it.
Maybe nice to have but absolutely not a necessity on a screen that size.
True but then you aren't benefitting from the capabilities of the TV. It's less the 4K resolution and more the fact that with 1080p HD content, you won't receive HDR. The difference between watching a move in 1080p v 4K with HDR will be hugely noticeable, regardless of the size of the screen or viewing distance.Maybe nice to have but absolutely not a necessity on a screen that size.
The LG has the better screen but Dolby Vision is superior to HDR10 - so I'd still go with the Hisense for 4K content.

Yes, I m leaning towards the HiSense after reading reviews.
I don t think I do - I imagine it would be worth upgrading to 4K services?
i doubt you would be able to tell on a small tv like that at a normal viewing distance I don t think I do - I imagine it would be worth upgrading to 4K services?
I have a 42” TV, capable of 4k HDR, that is around 12’ away from the main listening position. 4k HDR through iPlayer understandably looks great, but Freeview HD channel’s aren’t far behind at all, certainly not chalk and cheese.
I find that the far larger screen sizes available today lead to a rather compromised picture when viewing the Standard Definition minor channels. For that reason and our preference on TV location we are more than happy with a 42” size.
