Hifi Show Bristol
Discussion
I go every year, always on a Friday as it is much quieter. Head down for a wander, start at the basement and work my way up. Tend to nip out for lunch in town and then head back afterwards. The HMV in the centre has a good stock of records too if that's your thing. Always take a wander down there after.
Just got back. Joined the very long queue and headed straight to the top floor. Rooms were empty and most people tend to start at the bottom. I took my daughter who is studying Music Production and Music Tech and I wanted to show (listen) to just how good some hifi could be. Took a day off work assuming it would be quieter today than the weekend but it was still rammed.
Some very good demonstrations, I love PMC and Wilson Bensch. The Fyne room was brilliant, using Accuphase amps, filled the huge room. Dali also very good.
Didn t make it to the REL demo. Musical Fidelity was appalling, I m sure their Amps are good, but the speakers and source just made it sound bad, really distorted. Could be the room of course.
Had my setup on since I ve been home and I m genuinely still happy with my multiple Naim boxes and Focal speakers.

The Accuphase electronics on the LP12 sounds incredible. We have 3 systems on the go - attainable, achievable and aspirational.
I would love to have attended the show and auditioned what you had on show.Edited by StescoG66 on Saturday 21st February 09:11
What is the spec and price point of the three systems? - attainable, achievable and aspirational.
Attainable was a little WiiM Amp Ultra paired with the F55e
Achievable used F502S with S-Trax, Accuphase E3000 amp, cabled with Reson cables.
Aspirational was F704SP with SuperTrax, Accuphase A48S/C3900 pre-power amp, plus C57 phono stage all cabled by MusicWorks.
The two Accuphase systems shared sources. We had a Linn LP12/Audio Origami/Dynavector turntable kindly loaned to us by Loud and Clear in Glasgow. CD was Accuphase DP770. Music Works were displaying with us and kindly supplied both these systems

Late update to this but was a bit disappointed this year. No whathifi demo of what will be/their favourite kit.
The REL demo was excellent. They really have pulled it out the bag in the last couple of years and their passion for what they do shines through in the demos. I have one of their smaller subs at home but had lost the neutrik cable. They sent me a new one out FOC!
The PMC demo was another favourite of mine. Those bookshelf speakers sounded great.
The AE 40th anniversary bookshelf speakers were disappointing but then that could be down to the room config. Thought they sounded a but muddy at the bass end of things.
I treated myself to a WiiM Pro for streaming duties. I use Spotify as all of the family can use it and wanted to take advantage of the lossless without having to send things via bluetooth. Also had a listen to their small speaker, the WiiM Sound, very impressed with it.
Spot of lunch at Cote Brasserie and then back to it. Topped off with a visit to HMV and a few vinyls purchased. Was a good day!
