WiiM Amp Pro + KEF LS50M. Set up
Discussion
Hi all, I’m enjoying my new set up in the spare room after decorating and what have you.
The system sounds good, but I am seeking advice from those that know better.
I have created an equilateral triangle between the speakers and my listening spot. I have toed in the speakers a little, instructions suggest up to 15 degrees and it’s about that.
Speakers are 20” away from the back wall without foam plugs. Putting those in seems like a weird thing to do, but would if you suggested I stick them closer to the wall (wife commented on how far forward they are).
Speaker width seems about right, but bring them closer or wider based on the photos?
Will probably add the WiiM sub as it’s not too much money and should enhance the overall feel. Would do the KEF sub, but my budget is already exceeded.
Furniture placement is a bit tricky. I’d like to sit in the central listening hotspot in the middle of the sofa, which is mostly comfortable- just me listening alone normally.
Feel free to make suggestions for me to implement. I may well be pretty close to having sorted it, but wanted your input. Cheers.
A KC62 might be worth trying to find used - it would partner very well with the LS50M's and your Wiim Amp.
I have a KC62 with my LS60's which I initially thought wouldn't add too much as my speakers have 8 bass drivers between them already. However it's been a great success and the KEF sub is really excellent.
As to toe-in etc, you'll have to experiment. There are some who listen to them flat to the room, others that don't.

I had the base LS50s about 10” from the wall with no significant booming so left the bungs out. For sub, I’m still using an old REL T5i now with R3 Metas, still no bungs. I’ll probably go for a pair of either REL 7x or Kef KC62 sub upgrade as my priority is music and the BK/SVS subs are reportedly better for movies.
Picture working if I click on it. Nice space.
BK have a range of subs. The XLS300 and XXLS400 are single driver with sealed enclosure. The ones which are ported or have passive radiators are I d say more for movies.
They don’t sell via retailers so they just don’t get the attention the big boys do. If comparing to REL they are incredible value. The KC62 gets great reviews but it’s an investment. And as you don’t have the active LS50s you’re not using all the features as you can’t access the app.

I would definitely experiment with positioning. This is the issue i’m having after changing the room around. Get the sub, then use the internal crossover to high pass the speakers and low pass the sub. With the Wiim you can change everything on your phone sipping a bourbon!
I’d also take the widgets off the spikes.
