PMC DB1S-A Active speakers

Trying to resurrect and re-commision my mostly 90s Hi Fi including a NAD 3020 or two, the odd CD player or two, an older Linn Sondek (that really needs some fettling), Mission 737Rs and EPOS ES14s but now seem to have won a pair of secondhand PMC DB1S-A active speakers that have XLR inputs rather than the more familiar (to me, at least) speaker terminals.
I have no idea how to connect these up. I presume I can use the pre-amp out from the NAD 3020 or do I have to connect direct from CD player?
Although not using a turntable at the moment, similar question re connection.

Regarding the Linn Sondek, any where locally that is recommended as I live in Worcestershire? I have seen adverts from Music Matters in Stratford Upon Avon and Liquid Audio in Stourbridge- any thoughts or recommendations.

For the PMCs you’ll need a Phono to XLR cable - cheap a chips. Remember, XLR is a balanced connection so you won’t be getting the full benefit of that by feeding it with an unbalanced signal from the NAD, also, you’ll need to bring the PMCs away from the walls given the porting design. Toe them in too - 60 degrees. Great sounding monitors for their size. I have no idea how to connect these up. These are an unusual choice for a home hi-fi - they're tonally geared to be very neutral in the mid and high end. ie. they're more about clarity and low distortion than sounding 'nice' and musical.
Also the transmission-line design on these means they sound more balanced when used as near-fields rather than sticking in your average living room.
I wouldn't want them for home use personally but everyone's different. They do at least respond well to some EQ to take the edge off (the Wiim is great for this).

The thing always to remember is that they are monitors, not loudspeakers.
They are designed to be used by someone sitting at a studio mixing desk about 3-4 feet (max) away from them.
Interestingly I guy I knew many years ago who was a part time studio engineer said that he always used PMCs for monitoring in the studio, but when he was home he used a pair of Dynaudios as loudspeakers.
