Sony Bravia 32 - picture goes out of focus - Why?

My new TV LCD 32'Bravia has a terible fault - the picture often goes in and out of focus and somtimes has a shimmy - vertical line in the centre of the screen.

Is this normal? It is worse on some channels and not a problem at all on others.

Do all the channels it happens on happen to transmit on the same mux?

Not sure what that means. Had a quick look via Google and its quite beyond me.

The focus issue is fairly regular problem - the shimmy - occurs on DVDs as well as the odd broadacast prog.

Never had the problem with the old CRT.
