projector help. . . ?

Just wondering,if i got a projector and screen.what would i need,and how, would i be able to watch tv through it?cheers guys.

A freeview box, connected via RCA cables would work (providing the projector has RCA inputs)

You might, however, want to connect the audio via a stereo / surround sound system.

If you are going to ceiling mount your projector you will need a bracket.

As for connections to the projector, they vary depending on brand. All have a Video input, usually a yellow Phono/RCA or better use component Video. Some now come with HDMI. You will need to send the signal from a video source, this could be a Sky box, Freeview box, DVD, etc. Best use an AV amp for sound and so you can switch sources.

Obviously you will need to get cables up to the projector, dont forget power.

Depends on the throw of the projector and the image size that you want, most projectors are different.

the best thing to do is to pick a projector and then use an image calculator with your distances to figure out your image size. I used these guys before and their specialists www.avitav.co.uk. They don't have the biggest range out there but they really know what they are talking about and only specialise on a few good projectors. I just gave them a call and they demonstrated a few projectors and gave me the exact image size at my distance. It's not the easiest thing to do hence why LCD plasmas are more popular. I got a Full HD projector for just over a 1k and never looked back. 100" image size with mind blowing quality.

A good benchmark is a ratio of between 1.8-2.3 times the screen width. This is a good average but all projectors vary. If its a kids bedroom I would not go too big, a 4'/5' screen will be plenty big enough.
