My new home is equipped with a satellite dish that is currently pointing at the SKY satellite. I am keen to get Freesat, however- how do I point the dish in the right direction?
Do I climb the ladder and wiggle it about until my missus shouts "we've got a picture" or is there another way. I am keen not to pay a bloke lots of cash just to point it in the right direction but then again where is the "Freesat?"
All help gratefully recieved!

I would recommend you get a free-sat box that has a hard drive recorder built in , ( sky + type thing )
you need a quad LNB ( the bit on the end of the arm of the dish ) they cost about £10 and just slot into the end of the arm , then you can fit second feed into the box .
If you can afford an HD one even better .

Surely a twin(2) LNB is all you need, not quad (4), unless you are planning to have more than one STB/recorder. you need a quad LNB ( the bit on the end of the arm of the dish ) they cost about £10 and just slot into the end of the arm , then you can fit second feed into the box .

Where do you get you LNBs from as I can't find a quad LNB that cheap?
Sorry to hijack the thread but...
I have just moved into a new build flat and it has Satellite cabled up throughout the building, I have got myself a Freesat HDR (Humax FOXSATHDR) though I only have one point in the wall to pull off the satellite signal, works pretty well.
Is there anything I can do to get a second feed into the box so I can record and watch different channels (outside of the same band which you can do with one feed)?

You will need a second feed. Somewhere in your building there will be the 'head end' distribution for the Satellite and TV system. Check up in the Loft or in the cupboards in the hallways. You will need to drop another cable from there, if there is a spare output. Alternatively you may be able to switch the Aerial cable to the satellite feed?
Easiest way is install your own dish with a twin LNB on the balcony or somewhere.

We have the feed into the cupboard in the hallway, I will investigate what actually comes into the box and see if I can work out a way to get a second feed into the living room!
