Plasma/LCD placement near a radiator

We've never encountered any problems to date and have installed well over 400 over fireplaces and rads!
I stopped counting at 2000 2 years ago, i have mounted many above fireplaces (proberbly over 50%) with no heat problems at all but this is due to the fact the screen is not in the main heat stream, radiators are a different beast as generally it not recessed into the wall or have a mantle above them,(and get used more often than a fire) some ppl try a MDF rad cover but alot of head does permiate through them. I had a situation once where we had a service call for a samsung switching to standby, it turns out the guy had a rad installed under the plasma and basically the screens thermal trip was cutting in all the time. You need to remember that your screen was designed to work within a certain temperature band for maximum life, if you exceed this then it isnt certain that the screen would die straight away but is fair to assume that the life cycle would be reduced. The other extreme would be we also had an early panny pw4 rust from the inside due to it proximety to a log burning fireplace in an old house when that was its only form of heating due to condensation buildup on its cold metal back
Lots of instruction books specifically state not to mount above a heat source also.
