TV wall mounts
Discussion
When i finally get the house refurb completed, i will be treating myself to a new TV downstairs and putting the existing one in the bedroom. The obvious place for this is on the flat bedroom wall which is say, for arguments sake, 2 meters wide. However, the wall has a 50cm plasterboard section, not quite centre but probably around the 1.2 metre mark working left to right. Therefore a horizontal LCD wall mount would have to cross the plasterboard if i wanted it central (which i do). So i was pondering my options -
Are there horizontal wall mounts which can be mounted off centre but then have a swing arm type mechanism or different mount positions to compensate for this and hence hold TV central on the wall?
Are there vertical TV wall mouunts. If so, depending on width it may be possible to fit it centrally without the need to touch the plasterboard. Or if not, are there vertical wall mounts which allow TV position compensation, as above?

What's behind the plasterboard?
I mounted my 32" LCD upstairs in the bedroom on a "wooden wall" using standard screws.
Some mounts which mount the TV flush to the wall won't allow you to run cables behind the TV as there isn't enough room (you have to run them through the wall).
One option could be to cut a hole in the plasterboard wall - install a batten where you want to mount the TV and also run the cables down inside the plasterboard wall.

Plasterboard is just a covering, it can be used 'dabbed' over blockwork so in this case you would use standard plugs and screws through the plasterboard into the blockwork, if it is a wooden stud wall then it is screwed to the wooden uprights so for a hevier TV you have the option of screwing into these wooden studs, if its a lighter TV then you can just use a quality platerboard fixing and hang the TV from the board (but is not really for the DIYer, you need to get it right so it dont fall off), its also worth noting that a wooden stud wall will have horizontal noggins that usualy stop your cable drops. If you are in a new house then its likely you have a C section stud wall this is similar to previously mentioned but the studs are C section metal and are quite weak also they dont have noggins so they are great for cable runs
again your best bet is a good quality plasterboard fixing.
