Does anyone know of any websites where you can watch iplayer type TV in the USA? Or is there a way you can fool the site to thinking youre accessing from a UK ip address?

Has tried tvcatchup but not allowed outside UK

Many thanks

I got some software called 'hide my ip' and used it to watch iplayer from the US. You get a four day free trial but it randomly selects the location of the proxy for those days, I got lucky and got a UK one. Only about $20 a year or so for the full service.

If you go this route then make sure your home upload speed is at least 500k. (Sling say 300 but that's cobblers) I have Sling Box, Sling Catcher and around 280k upload and it's rubbish.

It's a good question and as an expat myself, I've done a lot of research on this and have some good solutions.

You need to get yourself a VPN. Slingbox is great so long as you have an Internet connection in the UK but that's expensive and the equipment is not cheap.

Better still is to use a good VPN service. I've used several and currently use StrongVPN. The support is superb and it works out at about $60 per year more or less. There are also other providers including Blacklogic, HappyVPN and many others.

Once you have the VPN, you can watch all your iPlayer programs as if you were in the UK. You can even configure your iPhone if you have one to watch iplayer on your phone! smile

PM me if you need anymore info!

I use a Proxy server access from proxs.com
As I live on the continent I use it for all my usual UK tv viewing, plugging the lapdog into the plasma.
