My 10 year old Sky Digibox has developed a fault and has an appointment at the local recycling centre shortly.

I only used it for the free channels with a Sky card but I like the ease of setting favourite channels and checking what's on.

If I get a Sky+ box via Ebay can I use that to watch the free channels or do I need to get an older type Sky box?

The box will work but you won't get the + recording functionality,

I think you will .. But unless you have 2 cables from the LNB you won;t be able to watch one AND record another

You should be able to watch and record the same channel

Not without a Sky+ subscription you can't.

Miniman is right, you have to have at least the minimum subscription to use the sky+functions.

i wouldn't bother paying the extra for the + function as already said it won't work without a subscription, just buy a basic one or ask about, there is usually plenty of the older ones being given away

I have a couple of sky boxes that have had under 6 months use. I don't need them. Email me if you want one!

I have 1 current normal box and 1 HD box about 18 months old or so... I'll probably keep the HD box, just moved so will decide over the weekend... if I don't find a use for it I'll post here. The other box is being sent to the OP.
