Really quick question... a relative has standard sky box, but is looking to get a sky+ box... She does not really have the money to upgrade is is looking at cheap 2nd hand sky+ boxes...

Is it a simple case of swapping out the boxes, or are cables upgrades needed?

Sky+ is a subscription service - the recording/pause facilities dont work unless you pay the extra per month,AFAIK.

Just having the box isn't enough.

Both defcon and rollcage are right, you need a multi output LNB to provide more than one signal so you can watch and record/record and record, and you need to pay the subscription otherwise all of the sky+ features will be disabled.

edit: seems thatone is correct - http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?...

Interesting!

Seems you need to subscribe to a package to get Sky+, but no extra charge for it.

Duly noted! smile
