After a bit of help on these for the Mother in Law.

She has, what I believe to be, a Panasonic TXL37V10 (37" LCD with Freesat that she bought from JohnLewis) and wants to get one of the Panasonic Soundbars to go with it.

I'm suggesting she goes for the HTB10 over the HTB500 as she doesn't really want anything too bass heavy and it appears that it doesn't have a sub volume control.

My questions are around the compatability with the TV though:
- Will it work with an HDMI cable, or will it need to be connected via Optical?
- Will it work with the TV's remote control?

Cheers.

Following the link you supplied, and looking at the Panasonic site
TV - 919mm wide
HTB10 - 800mm wide
HTB500 - 1029mm wide

Manual available online
HTB10 - HDMI in from BluRay, etc
- Optical in from TV
- HDMI out to TV

The only way to judge the sound is using ears (MiL preferably)

Thanks, but what's confusing me is this:

Panasonic said:
SC-HTB10 is compatible with a feature of ARC (Audio Return Chanel). The ARC allows receiving audio signals from the TV, on top of the preexisting HDMI function of sending audio/video signals to the TV with just one cable. This feature will simplify the connection by eliminating an audio cable connection between TV audio output and main unit's audio input. *ARC compatible TV is required.
Can't find a manual for the TV so don't know if it has this ARC feature or not.

Don't think the TV does have ARC enabled on the HDMI, but it's hard to say for sure.
Might be worth calling a Panasonic dealer or them themselves to get the correct info.
