Guys,

I need a new TV for the spare room 32-35 inches max, budget is about £400, and recommendations I quite like the LED style ones but heard that for about £400 you get cheap and they are not great for games. Also what's the deal with refresh rates, I'm assuming the higher the number the better it is right?

PS - the TV will also be used for Sky etc at some point!!!!

kinda liking these:

thanks

it's not full hd, but that's forgiveable for anything under 40" imho.

Just ordered one of these - £429 at Amazon and free shipping.

For a little more money you can get the C6000, which has 100Hz refresh rate, if that's important to you.

Full HD 37" set would require the viewer to sit 2-3 feet from it, to see the extra resolution a BR movie at 1080p output can supply.
Most beds are 6 feet long to begin with, so unless positioned across from the side of the bed, and even then it'd be 4 feet away, Full HD small screens are nothing more than a marketing gimmick.

According the to often quoted chart, the difference would start to be noticeable at ~7ft and the full benefit would be apparent at ~5ft.

I'd often be within that distance when using it for gaming.

This one.....?

Yes, 5ft or closer is required for a 37" Full HD TV with a true 1080p signal.
How many people realistically sit that close?

5ft or closer for full benefit, 7ft or closer for some benefit.

I wouldn't sit that close to watch a film, but I do like to sit roughly that close when gaming.

Aside from that graph being a generalisation rather than absolute, given everyone's eye acuity being a variable, not all games being 1080p native, and the chart being predominantly for videophiles, doesn't change the fact that the OP's requirements are not best served with the P37X20.

Sitting 5ft from my own 37PX70 TV would be unthinkable, unless I turned the brightness down, which considering it's already between 1/3 & 1/2 of max, I'd lose shadow detail.

Fair play if it works for you, but I suspect you're very much in the minority of what most TV gamers tend to do.
I certainly had no problem sitting the same distance as general viewing, when I was playing Gears of War, etc.
