OK, another audio thread from me which I'm guessing has been covered a few times- but having bought some proper headphones I'm now in need of some earphones too, as my trusty Sennheiser CX300s are getting on my wick - great headphones, just the rubber sleeve where the wire meets the ear bud has sheared, makes it a bit awkward to put in and it doesn't hold firm anymore. For £15 quid, I'm happy with them. I'll be more than happy to get another set, but I'm wondering what else is out there sub 50 quid that's worth checking out.

They're very much general purpose - I use them for everything from nattering on Skype (something I do a hell of a lot of) to watching videos and listening to the iPod / iPhone - frequently combinations. I've looked at the Skull Candy ones which my nephew seems to approve of - we've got similar music tastes etc, but I think they might be too bassy for skype? Any thoughts on the Skull Candy stuff? I'm guessing Sennheiser are superior...?

I envisage the Senny's being very difficult to beat, but I'm not going over 50 quid as I'll probably break them (I often fall asleep with them in etc), and I've got better ones for travelling with etc. Any other suggestions?

Cheers!

Skullcandy are in my opinion a godsend. I've been having them shipped over here long before the European online - shop opened, simply because nothing else I've tried comes close for the price. I see them like TVR hehe, you can buy a faster, slightly more refined car sure, but it's going to cost a fortune comparatively and not be nearly as much fun. So definately not 'studio quality' but awesome none the less.
As long as you don't get sucked in by the designer Snoop Dogg / Dr. Dre stuff they are really good value for money.
I am a little biased though as I love bass...

Thanks for the feedback!

Tried the Skull Candy. I actually think after a couple of hours of using them that they're pretty damn good.

I also picked up a pair of Klipsche ones. They are superb - I'm inclined to say I got ripped off buying a set of damned expensive shure's when these puppies sound so great.

SoundMAGIC PL30 - simply wonderful. Check out the reviews on the web, cheap to buy, not cheap on quality, and unbelievable sound quality.

I was tempted by those, but opted for the klipsch. Can't see me needing any more headphones or earphones for a long time now, bought a few pairs lately - but i'll definitely keep them in mind should any fail smile
