Looking to buy the B&W 685 theatre system with the Denon AVR 2310 Amp. If anyone has a better idea for the money (about £2000) please speak up as any help in this area is good help.

I may get burned here, severely but what is the main function of your set up? If it is just for movies, then I would buy the speakers separately and not spend so much on the rear speakers. These are used for effects and hardly anything goes through them. I would personally go for a high spec LCR and a simple rear surround set up.

I have the B&W M1 satellites all round and I'm very happy with them. Music could be better, but it's not my main music listening room so for what I needed it for it's great. This is paired with the 1910 amp.

Any thoughts on the TV with the priority being the picture, been looking at the 50" Samsung!

Standard response is get a Panasonic definitely not a Samsung.

I have a pioneer so can't really comment. Go and find a good indie you can audition stuff for you, it's what made my mind up to go for the Denon and B&W combo over an Onkyo and Kef system.

T450t,

I would be looking at something like this:

Pioneer - http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.c... - 380

Linn - http://www.petertyson.co.uk/ebuttonz/ebz_product_p... - 400

Linn - http://www.petertyson.co.uk/ebuttonz/ebz_product_p... - Centre 110 * 5

BK Subwoofer - http://www.bkelec.com/HiFi/Sub_Woofers/Monolith-DF... - 530

Total - 1860

The Linn speakers are on sale at the moment and are incredible value for money! A friend of mine has just got some and they are brilliant. Super accurate but you will need a good sub, hence the monster listed below wink

You may want to choose your receiver based on set up options, such as eq settings and things like that, lip sync is a good feature too.

Chris

edited - just go for a full set up from Linn smile
