Hello all

wife will only accept white speakers (and tbh they definitely hide themselves better than your typical black unit), and I'm looking for ACTIVE speakers for front left and right so I can move to a home theatre PC without having to have yet another box (i.e. the receiver).. I already have active centre and sub...

any suggestions? I've looked at Audio Engine, Scandyna and JBL so far...

thanks

Google ' APart' Speakers, bought a pair in the summer for my summer house, wickedly good. Also have a set of audio engine White ones too, all about the same price, but I would say for the house, get the audio engine ones, heavier and extremely good. Also, if y use an apple airport express to a stream music, they have a custom in port at the rear. And, they have two aux in sockets, and one to charge your iPod

Just my op, but both pretty good. Oh yes, the apart ones come with wall bracket, the AE ones are designed to be stood on a surface.

Happy shopping

Matt

You don't mention a budget, but everything on the page below is active, and can be had in white.

Prices from around £900 for a pair of BeoLab 4, to 10k+ for BeoLab 5.

Thanks.. the B&O are probably overpriced, but Audio Engine are definitely up there.
I've also been looking at the pro market - Genelec, Fostex and KRK - anyone any experience of these?

cheers,

The professional studio monitors are an acquired taste. I personally prefer them (i did a lot of sound engineering when I was younger) as such I prefer these. They should have a very flat response and some may find the output a little clinical. Before going down the active route, I would recommend auditioning a pair of studio monitors if you can, Digital Village should be able to help you out.
