Recommend me a 42" for £600
Discussion
Our old slim CRT (hanging head in shame) has started going on the blink so I reckon it's time to creak open my wallet and invest in something new.
Just wondering if anyone knows of any good deals about for 42 inchers? It will mainly used for sky, DVD's and also PS3 gaming.
I'm not really up on what's what I'm afraid, so I'm relying on the PH knowledge bank for help!
Anything that might also come in a bundle with a surround sound system would be extra good too!!
Thanks!!

Goes without saying - Panasonic 42G20, then add one of their surround systems on later, but if you're really interested in surround sound, you'd go to a proper AV store and listen to some 2nd hand separates, and do it justice and right.
More expensive sure, but that's the trade-off for doing it right and well, than merely paying it lip service.
Of course various reasons may justify having to make do with a pre-packaged system from Pioneer/Panasonic/Teac/etc - best read as much official reviews and users' ones to shortlist which to go see or buy online.

Cheers for the replies, after having a quick look around other threads, I had a feeling a panny may be recommended!
I'm not trying to be deliberately obtuse or anything, but if I was to get something like this:
http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/7301388/art/lg/42l...
would I notice a missive difference in picture quality compared with the panny?
Just thinking it would then allow me to add something like this:
http://www.richersounds.com/product/av-receivers/s...
and these:
http://www.richersounds.com/product/speaker-packag...
and I could then presumably plug my PS3 into the av receiver to play blue rays through?

Haven't looked at the LG you've linked to, but my view is you don't compromise on the picture to half compromise on the audio.
If it takes another 6 months to "afford" a decent AV setup, then make the most of the picture quality in that time, as it's not likely you'll change TV in 12 months.
So, cracking TV sorted, worry about the audio side after and when appropriate funds permit.
