Which is best for a PS3 plasma or lcd

If you read the tech sheets then plasma is better, but ive always foound for gaming then LCD is better.
In what way? is it a clearer picture. I have an 37" LCD at the mo and it's ok but my neighbour has a plasma and the tv picture is miles better. I play my ps3 a bit on MW2 etc hence the post.I previously had a Sony LCD but changed to a Panasonic Plasma.
For me the LCD was slightly better for the PS3 but the Plasma is far superior on SD.
I think it's down to the two different technologies, LCD being effectively backlit through a coloured window has higher sharpness which is better for computer generated graphics. Plasma being a glowing gas bleeds slightly between pixels which is better getting rid of blockiness and artefacts associated with SD transmissions.
Just my opinion on the TV's I've had.

Go for an LED. Plasma and LCD are on an even par for view, considering a reasonable budget in this, and plasma are over-priced for what they are.
LED are better than both, but again a bit more expensive.
LED is nothing more than a newer type of backlight to illuminate the LCD pixels that the panel is comprised of.LED are better than both, but again a bit more expensive.
Plasma is akin to CRT in that phosphor is used, but still individual cells (pixels) and as such, is quicker to change state than LCD can currently manage.
So, as per practically every "which TV?" thread here - 42G20 by Panasonic is the definitive answer.
If you need to cut some cost - the amount imho is not worth it, but I'm not paying for it, then the S20 variant is the one to opt for.

There is a piece on gaming near the end of this link:
http://www.techradar.com/reviews/audio-visual/tele...
And here is where is the best price I can find:
http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/sol/shop/technology/te...
From my experience and knwledge, you'll suffer more motion blur and crap balcks fro LCD regardless of how it's lit.... I'm sure that situation won't last, but thats how it is at this momment...

Interesting thread which I can't add anything to as I don't have a console (well we have a Wii, but that's not exactly bleeding edge graphics ), but I resisted flat screen TVs for ages until I saw a Panasonic Plasma (the 37" one) - A year on it's still the best SD/HD broadcast picture I've seen.
I'll be interested to see what the general view for gaming is.

Plasma wins, better panel response time leads to much lower input lag, better blacks
more natural colours. But with Pannys always use the dedicated "Game" mode in the picture menu.
It'll take a day or two getting used to the picture but once acclimatised to it you'll never
look back.
I've recently replaced a 5090 Kuro Pioneer with the 50VT20 Panny and can honestly say
that no other set came close for gaming quality IMO
FYI the G20 series Panny plasmas have now been discontinued with the 42" sets now gone at
Panasonic, the 46/50" sets are going quickly.

I am a FPS nut and have been gaming on a very high-end CRT projector for the last 10 years. I spent a lot of time recently buying and trying different technologies as the projector is very expensive to run, ridicuoulsy expensive to repair and the room has to be black for the best effect. To ease up on its use, I have been considering the CRT, LCD, LED, and Plasma technologies. They are all completely different animals to live with IMO. The LCD does not get even warm whereas my Plasma gets very hot. The LED sets are just glorified LCD's with clever backlighting which gives better contrast ratios (on paper anyway).
My earlier and trusted S20 Pana Plasma suffered screen burn (image retention) as it was left on a desktop picture for many months non-stop. This did not matter on the CRT projector as it was a 4:3 format when used for PC and as it was mainly used for films displaying 16:9, the image burn was not noticeable as it was out of that phosphor area.
In the end I opted for an LG 50PK590 because it was rated well (although image lag was supposed to be slow - I've not noticed that at all), and I spent many hours looking at my friends before I finally bought it. It is a mid-ranged set and with the 5 year warranty from Richer Sounds, came in at £714 - bargain. My old 40" Sony Bravia LCD which cost me £980 last year, is now on the wall of the guest bedroom and even when I hooked the media PC up to it, the colours look washed out, they are not as vivid (read less saturated) and the angle is noticeable as you walk past, whereas the plasma picture is stunning and striking in every mode. Also the bezel is much smaller on the LG which actually makes the picture look even bigger, and it is very shallow compared to the LCD - something I thought would be round the other way! On boxing day I tried to buy another LG 50PK590 to replace the Sony which I could then put in the log cabin, but I can't find them anywhere near the price Richer was doing them for, and he's sold out.
The long and short is: I set out to buy an LCD, and on paper at least it would appear to make better sense. I came home with a Plasma and I think it's not only better than an LCD, this budget LG looks better (to me) than my old S20 Panny which was twice the cost. Go and see some for you self and make your own decision, IMO it's a very personal choice

I couldnt disagree more with everything in this post.LED are better than both, but again a bit more expensive.
Plasma has a far quicker response time than LCD resulting in less smearing for gaming graphics.
To be blunt, anyone recommending an LCD over a plasma is spectacularly misinformed.
i am looking to buy a 42" LG tv but dont know whether i should buy it in plasma or lcd, could someone please state if you play a ps3 with a HDMI cable plugged into your tv, what is the difference between the two and does the gameplay with the HDMI cable cover the complete screen. thank you.
