Multi-input HDMI Swithes - any thoughts on these, folks?

Essentially, I've two HDMI inputs on my TV, and up to four gadgets wanting them - Xbox, blu-ray, HD freesat, and HD camcorder (DVD player can go another route...).

I've found some on Amazon, anywhere between £5 and £50-odd, and I'm figuring the old addage "you get what you pay for" probably holds true with these things. Trouble is, AVReviews has an article saying you're looking at £150 for budget ones, up to £400 for decent switches, which to me seems somewhat OTT (like, haven't they looked on Amazon?!?).

Lastly (apologies for droning on!), any idea on input lag? Dunno if it's a factor at all (could be barking up the wrong tre here), but if a switch does contribute to it, that would probably mean me using the first TV HDMI for the xbox, and using the second TV HDMI with the switch-box to connect the other three.

Thoughts/advice/help much appreciated, ta in advance thumbup

I was in the same shoes as you - 3 leads (Sky, XBox & Apple TV), with only 2 slots.

I got one of these from the Bay - it has auto switching as well which is quite useful - I have it plugged into the second HDMI port on the tv, with the XBox into switch 1 and Apple TV into switch 2. If the XBox is turned on, it shows that on the TV but as soon as you turn it off, it changes to Apple TV.

Was a bit dubious at first as, like you, I saw all these different solutions at horrific prices but it does the job very well and is quite solid as well.

Whether it stands the test of time, who knows? But at £16 delivered, I'm not too worried if it only lasts a year!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Neet®-SWITCH-REMOTE-o...

I have one of the "Neet" 5.1 HDMI remote switches (will auto as well). It has a little remote eye for infra red control (it comes with a little credit card remote) and a little power supply unit as it's a signal amp as well. I use it to switch my sky, xbox and Apple TV via my Harmony Remote which has the codes available.

Brilliant little bit of kit and works well. Don't forget to order the correct number of cables for all your devices plus one from the switcher to the TV.

I have been using one of these for a year now http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?sku...

Brilliant bit of kit. It's auto switching and connects my PS3, DVD and Sky HD to my 5th Gen Pioneer.

Faultless and only £15!

Cheers for the replies, guys.

Decided on one of these from Amazon - Only £20, so not too much to waste if it proves to be bks and I need to go a more expensive route. Gotta be better than man-handling the tv and swapping cables constantly.
