Hey folks,

Does anyone know if it's possible to have two DSL lines running from one phone line to allow A SkyHD box and router to both be connected at the same time.

Just now I'm having to swap the DSL between the boxes whenever I want to buy a movie, hoping someone knows a better solution.

Cheers!

Mr AJ

The Sky HD box should be running perfectly fine next to your router, Its possible its not cabled up properly. Coming from your master socket there should be a DSL filter which splits you into two sockets - One for Modem, One for Telephone. Router goes into Modem socket then from the router there should be a cat5 cable to your sky box if your using anytime+.

Then for ordering movies there should be another telephone line extension running from the socket to the sky box. The router and the Sky box should be using different types of sockets at your wall anyway?. I'd also expect a phone socket splitter to be there aswell, so that you can have a phone plugged in at the same time as the sky box.

We've got an ADSL filter at the master socket which has a phone line going to the telephone, then the DSL line goes to the router. The router is connected to the HD box by a Cat5 cable. Should the HD box be downloading movies over the Ethernet link?

If the sky goes into a router via Cat5, and the router into the socket via a DSL cable, then what exactly are you swapping to make this work?

DSL from router to HD box.

What is the purpose of the Cat5 from the router to the HD box? Is the DSL required if Ethernet is connected, and does the HD box need to be set up to use that rather than the DSL line?

I don't know about the Cat5, but all sky boxes I've ever encountered require a phone line connection - not DSL but a standard phone line.

You might need a splitter on the phone side of the ADSL filter, then plug the phone into one, the sky box into the other, and the DSL line into the router.

Cat5 might be for the new Anytime+ stuff Sky are doing now but I don't think that removes the need for the phone connection.

The CAT5 cable is only for Anytime+. The HD box will still use the phone line for its normal purposes.
