Panasonic 50g20 v 50v20 - worth the extra?

After months of saving, I am ready to purchase a new set up.

I am looking at the above two TVs, is the newer V model worth the extra money?

I shall be using if for sport, Blu-ray+DVD and the now and again on the xbox.

You're very close to end of line now, so personally, I'd hang off until you see/hear what the 30 Series brings to the table - although you'll not see them until April/May, if March is a bit too soon after their announcement at the CES in the States.
It's only a couple of weeks away, so you'd know then if the G and V30 have anything more you'd want than the outgoing 20 Series models.
