ok good and wise people. i suppose its a guy thing, size matters. i have decided to go up a few sizes in the tv world. i have been thinking about a new tv for a while, not 3D as i think they still have a way to go yet (might be wrong) but feel free to comment. i decided to go for a 60'' of some kind, any thoughts welcome. i will be sitting about 13' in front, or about 7' to one side 45 degrees to the screen. the lowest the tv can be mounted is about 36'' from the floor, and there is a window about 6' to one side. now i know zero about the working and set up, connections, and the rest of it, any answers need to be of the lady bird book type. soooo what i need to know is well everything realy as i can already see the sales man rubbing his hands when i walk in to the shop.
cheers all....tom

I have an lg60ps8000 which i got from dixons for by far the cheapest i could find. I sit about 12/13 ft away and its a joy to use it really is, i have a samsung 32" lcd in the conservatory which is about 10ft away and when i go into the lounge i feel like ive been watching a phone screen
36" off the ground is quite high but i suppose it would be ok, mines about 24" maybe and i feel its slightly high, however if i had it any lower it would look ridiculous due to the physical size of the set.
Picture quality is very good, as good and maybe even slightly better than a panasonic 42 85b which is very well rated.
For the money the lg wont be beaten. I have heard theres a 65" samsung 3d led tv which id love but at 5k i,ll be waiting for it to drop to £1500 and making a move

What kind of system if the new 60" TV being plugged into?? or is it a completly new set up and if so what are you after?
now you see thats the problem, are you saying that i need more than just a 3 pin socket in the wall?
ow..... Well do you have any kind of tv in place that the new one is replacing or is it a new TV in a room where you have had nothing before?? are you happy with just freeview channels or do you want sky or sky hd?? im assuming you with to watch dvds so you will need to get a blue ray player as well as tv and possible a surround sound system depending what you wantA friend has just bought an LG60PK350 and considering all we usually fit are high end Panasonics, I was blown away by the performance of the LG for the price (think it was about £1100). The black levels aren't quite the same, but in a darkened room with a decent BluRay, it was fantastic!
We've got a 60" LG 60PS8000 and it's fantastic for the money. It's a couple of years old now, so I suspect the newer generation LG models are even better. Sure, if you put it side-by-side with a top end Panasonic, then the Panasonic will win. But, I don't think the increase in picture quality between the two is worth the increase in price. They may not be the best panels out there, but I don't think anything else comes close for the price.
