I have received post saying I can now turn on anytime plus and was wondering what people think of this service. It seems good but is an obvious tactic to get pople to sign up for sky broadband unlimited.

I have an HD box and sky broadband lite (which is 2gb per month and free), and the ethernet cable so I am ready to go, but 1 thing might stop me:

- when you upgrade to anytime plus do you lose the std anytime function? I find std anytime quite good and has plenty of stuff for my needs, eg the main premiere movies, but most importantly it does not use up my 2gb internet capacity.

I have no intention of giving Mr Murdoch £7.50 more each month because anytime+ forces me to upgrade to broadband unlimited when 2gb is plenty for my internet usage.

It's in addition to your current anytime. It'll appear separately on the programme guide.

Do you HAVE to have Sky broadband, or is it available to any ISP?

I've not had a letter from Sky, so I genuinely don't know.

You have to have the unilimited sky BB at the moment. There are rumors that other ISPs will be allowed later.

Anytime plus is quite a good service, and i was looking forward to getting it, however, the current library is poor and I hardly use it at the moment.

BBC iPlayer is far better IMO.

Thanks Scottri, that might explain why I've not had a letter inviting to join...

My sis has Virgin Media down south, and their watch again service - can't remember what its called - is superb.

You need to have Sky BB. It doesn't have to be unlimited.

I stand corrected.

GregE240,

If you haven't been invited yet it may be because they haven't rolled out the software onto your version of sky box.

Does need to be their own network though - i.e not the broadband connect (i.e. bt network)

Yes, it's basically just for what was the Easynet network.

so I have it now, but where is it separated?

after playing around a bit it seems some programmes/films have a record option, whereas most are "press SELECT to view" - is it the record option that signifies these are the std anytime and so will not be downloaded?

Is there anyway of viewing just the std anytime list?

Everything in the "Showcase" tab is the predownloaded content. There is also a broken lined circle with a play symbol in it which shows the content that is already on the box when browsing through other categories.

Movies looks good but searching for top gear, fith gear, family guy, natural world, etc all returns no result. Perhaps I should have said that the library seems to contain lots of stuff which I am not interested in.
