You are supposed to -as it says in the Panasonic manual I got with mine.

Bought another last week and guy in the shop (Richer) reminded me to keep it upright.

Also just checked the box it came in--says "only transport in upright position"

Is this the same with LCDs? Only ask as moving in a couple of weeks and was going to sling it (gently) in the back of the car and lay it flat.

Because a plasma screen is effectivly 2 pieces of reasonably fragile glass sandwiched together, unlike an LCD tv.

Lay it down and its much more likely to break.

Just found this in AV forums, seems quite a bit of a discussion about transporting them.

"The risk is that the glass could flex sufficiently to touch some of the electronics mounted very close behind it. Glass stressed by flexing is ultra brittle."

Ive moved thousands of Plasmas over the years, mainly stood up as they fit in the van better, believe me when I say they are more likely to break if they fall over. If ive only got one or two in the van because of this then I lay them down, never had one break that I have lay down.
