Netbooks...which one?
Discussion
A post on behalf of future mother inlaw.
Lovely woman for a future dragon-lived alone the past fews years since the death of her long term partner. She is looking to get into the big bad world of email/chatting on messenger...very simple tasks. She has asked me about netbooks - i don't have a clue about these. She really only needs something for very simple tasks as we live a bit away from her and this will make communication better/bit more interesting for her.
She has a total budget of around £200 - I know, not much. It really is for a complete beginner - she thinks the workings of the humble mouse are amazing and looks forward to trying one !
Anyway - any thoughts/recommendations appreciated.
Cheers all.
Whatever you choose for the budget, have a look into "Jolicloud" to unlock performance that is usually bogged down by all the bumph in the background of windows.
It's a Linux based operating system I know the word Linux cunjoures up images of geeks typing endless code in but it couldn't be simpler, have a look for some screenshots. It's designed for netbooks/ laptops for people who want to do the odd letter, surf the internet, do the weekly shop and send their sons pistures of cats falling off walls. People like my mum.
Then you don't have to worry about defragmentation, antivirusses, system slowdowns.
