Is that normal for a new Plasma? It's predominantly when displaying a screen of bright colour, not noticeable when watching a movie or streaming stuff from the AppleTV, but say, on the Wii home screen. I don't think it's through the speakers more of an electrical buzz.

Does it settle or disappear after a while, or is it a setting I need to change, or perhaps faulty?

Cracking piece of kit though biggrin

Yup, they do buzz, all plasmas do to an extent, if you phone panasonic about it they will give you a complex algorithm dealing with screen size distance from screen what colour jumper you have on etc....
If you cant hear it with approx 1/4 volume then its within spec.

My G20 does the same. I've had it since November and it's either got better or more than likely I've just got used to it. I only tend to notice it when the there is very little volume, last time was watching the snooker ......

Think it's the power supply but I could be completely wrong smile

Mine's on a stand in an alcove so I don't know if that helps to absorb the noise since it's not tight against a wall or if it bounces it back

Cheers guys, will get used to it I expect.

Mine will be mounted against a wall so no idea if that will absorb or make it worse. But I don't care, it's a great TV

I must have a good un' never heard it on mine until this thread caused me to check. I have to have my ear less than an inch from the screen to hear it. I do only have the little one though (42")

Maybe it is size related - mines a 50" - what are the others here?

I have a 58G2 that does this. Its is definitely the brighter screens that I hear it more on. I read that it could be a fan vibrating or the back cover being not quite on right. Someone else said it is more likely to be heard on the stand than mounted on the wall. It's very annoying at times but unnoticeable at other times. I was hoping that it would reduce but it has not.

Was watching a film last night and it's definitely to do with intensity, so bright colours and especially if there is lots of whites. Much quieter in darker scenes.
The film was a 'quiet' one so the noise was noticeable to a degree, I'm still not sure if I should call Panasonic/supplier just to see what they say.

Cool. This could be one of the deciding factors of whether to go for plasma or LED. My LCD Tosh hums and it is a little irritating. Would love a tv set that makes no hums/buzzes/etc at all. If plasmas do as a rule, I think I'll go the LED way.

Think it may be size dependent - I've had a Panasonic 42S20 on my wall for all of 24 hours, and yet to notice any buzzing from that.

Based on stuff I've read on here, 40/42 inches seems to be where the changeover is between LCD and Plasma being superior. If you were going 46 or 50 or more, I think Plasma is meant to be far superior (but maybe with a slight 'buzz')...

I reckon you are right, it's just a pity we only went for 50", I still think we could stretch it a little biggrin

They all do it IME. I've got a 42 and a 50, and they both do it. Also noticed it in a few shops, and there's thousands of posts on the net saying the same thing.
