we recently lowered our samsung TV and as a result our toddler has been able to reach the on/off button on the front.

He's taken to pressing it on and off when we cant get hold of him and now the TV seems to be buggered. I have covered the button over now so he cannot get to it but when we switch the TV on it clicks and clicks and can sometimes take 10-15 minutes to finally activate. Its as if it was a gas ring trying to light just not catching.

This mornning I had to unplug it form the wall in the end as it was trying to come on for about 15 minutes with no success, just constant clicking.

If this helps with the diagnosis, onjce its been on for a while and is warmed up it generally comes on again pretty quickly.

help!

What sort of Samsung tv?

I have a 19 inch Samsung LCD in my "office" which takes an age to switch on. It needs constant pressing of the on/off button on the TV or remote control ot get it to switch on. It seems it's a known issue and down to a failure of a capacitor on the Power supply board.

A friend who used to repair tv's said they had common faults with the resistors after 3years. Normally resulting in having to change them out simple fix for a repair man.

Phone Samsung and tell them about it.

I had this problem a few months ago and posted on here about it, as said above, the capacitors in the PSU will be knackered.

Our TV was 3.5 years old, and Samsung sent out a TV repair man, who took it away, repaired it, and brought it back 3 days later, FOC.
Interesting...

I was going to get the bits and fix it myself, but if Samsung are doing a free fix I'll get in touch with them. Mine is about the same age.

In the end a local Tv repair co fixed the fault for £85.

I spent ages trying to get hold of samsung and the tv is over 3 years old anyway so I didnt progress any further with them,

Same problem here. 2007 37' LCD Samsung. Standby light works.....but it won't turn on. Worked yesterday am; broken pm

Took off the back panel, removed two blown 1000uf 35v capacitors, re ordered 2 x new ones from RS Components and soldered back on the board......works fine! £4.98.

Didn't have a clue what to do so YouTube'd "Samsung Capacitor"........easy! (you will see how to identify the broken capacitors.....they buldge at the top!)

Hmmm. May fix my Relisys 42 plasma. Its really a re-badged Samsung.

Should do really, its been behind the sofa for the last year (or two) waiting to be fixed.

I've just had this problem as well. Decided I couldn't be bothered trying to get Samsung to sort it as it was about 5 years old. Bought the bits from RS Components and got a mate to solder them in. Works fine now and cost less than £12 as I had to bulk buy some of the capacitors.
