Amplifying speaker switch box
Discussion
I have a 4 way speaker switch box to distribute sound to four different rooms. The switch box only splits the input signal to the four rooms, so when all 4 channels are being driven they are quieter than when only one pair of speakers is being driven.
This is the switch box (cheap and cheerful):

Also, the input signal can be weak if the signal comes for a headphone socket (IPod) instead of an RCA output.
So, is it possible to get a 4 way switch box that can amplify the signal itself, rather the relying on and extra amp?

The problem comes when the input signal is somply coming into the switch box directly from an iPod, so no amp. The input signal comes from the headphone sockek into switch box. Phono inputs are fine, but I just want the convenience of being able to connect other devices using a 3.5mm jack. The signal from a headphone jack just isnt strong enough, so I a switch box that can amplify at the same time.

Ah! Well I'm not surprised the volume is low, the ipod has very little output, it's not designed to run speakers. Why not buy a cheap HiFi amp or a second hand one?
I will have to, I just thougut I would look into the possibility of getting the switch box and amp in a single unit. Cheers.Gassing Station | Home Cinema & Hi-Fi | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
