Taken the plunge and ordered the 500GB version of these from John Lewis at £199. It supposedly uses the same Hardware and basic software as the HUMAX FOX and is as stable. I'll let you know my impressions.

Not heard of these, sounds interesting, let us know how you get on. Are they Freeview or Freesat?

It's a Freeview box. It's a "techie" choice as they haven't done any OTA updates as yet, but it has a website where the latest updates are hosted.

Damn, no use to me then - no freeview here.

I assume you have a sat dish?

I was under the impression you can just wack a normal coax connection onto the sat cable and it will still power a freeview tuner.

yes/no?

Freesat comes off a sat dish.
Freeview comes off a regular aerial.

I'm sure I read on here that it would work.

I'm now sure that it definitely won't. Oh well.

Well it arrived yesterday and has been installed. very like the "old" 9200T in control with better quality graphics. Picture quality thru the Plasma is very good on both SD and HD. Recorded a few programs yesterday and a few more will be recorded today so I'll see what the controls and quality are like for replay. The remote buttons are a bit small for the record and playing functions compared to the 9200's remote but I'll see how that works out as well. Overall looks good and seems to be pretty bug free. Response to the remote is good with only the switching of channels seeming slow but even that's relative.

Yep the remote buttons are a pain, they are too small really for me. Generally it's pretty good though. Other thing that would be useful is to know which channels are available when both tuners are recording. The Humax 9200 "Grey's" out those channels not available. Also the Resolution seems to flick back and forth instead of "sticking" at 1080p. I am checking to see if this is what it should do or not.
