Looking for some new in ear headphones up to about twenty quid. Not tech savvy so am not sure what I should be looking for.

I find my current ones fall out my ear a lot when I'm at the gym so any experience of headphones that don't would be appreciated.

Cheers

Don't bother with the Philips ones that hook over the ears. No bass output to speak of at all, and is much quieter than the £5 no name ones they replaced too.

Got these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-CX-400-II-Preci...

£23, retail £60.

For such little money its amasing how much better they are then standard st headphones that come with devices.

I do laugh when I see people with standard ones. Noobs

I have Shure SE430s and they are excellent.
At £230 they are miles out of your budget but for reference it's vital that you are aware that whatever you get will be nowhere near as good as mine.

Somewhat OT a bit, but one year i received a pair of sennheiser cordless headphones for the home gramophone set up, at Chez Slopes. Anyway, not long after, we moved, and what did Mrs Slopes do with the power lead for them??? Threw it away, as she couldn't work out what it was for. She very nearly became ex-Mrs Slopes that day

I have the Minerva Mi-3 custom earphones, at £350 they are a tad more expensive than your SE420, but for reference they are so much better than yours.

I just double checked and mine are also £350 and not the £230 I remembered.
THis proves that I am so wealthy that I literally believe £230 is exactly the same as £350.
Oh, and from a website I just visited*

Against the Se420, the Minerva Mi-3 seemed almost dull, inferior in both bass and clarity. The quality gulf is such that we can only conclude that the Minervas were designed with the travelling community in mind
  • no such website, obv.

rofl

I just triple checked, and the SE420 are selling for around £180-200, this again proves that you are either an easy target for scammers and other mongers, or that you are so wealthy that you do not mind paying nearly double the price.

Strange that WhatHiFi are praising the bass of the SE420, since the lack of bass is generally considered as the biggest downside of them.
Then again, what do I know, I have only reviewed their bigger and better sounding sibling, the SE535, which by the way also loses out to the Mi-3.

Do they isolate well when you're inflight, first class is so much noisier than it used to be in the good old days. wink

If there was a full page ad next to this blurb for the SE420 it almost could be a WhatHi-Fi review!

And from me. Not sure which model I have at home but they're excellent. The bass is top notch.

Play aren't always Play. Like Ebay, they have a marketplace where various vendors can sell their wares. Some of those vendors aren't fussy about selling genuine items. I got my CX500s from there (unfortunately I can't remember which seller) and they are definitely genuine.
