Trying to canvass support for PistonHeads and Vulcan To The Sky to jointly organise a Sunday Service at Doncaster airport with the Vulcan bomber....

If you can think of any suggestions for the day (apart from requests to pilot the thing !!) please add.

This year is highly likely to be the very last year this iconic, incredibly loud and noisy aircraft flies before being permanently grounded, so it would make a great PHSS to get a load of Britain's other iconic noise maker, TVR, to be there.

Hi Mike, I think the Surrey RO was also arranging a trip there for later this year as well.

Well we got Garlick on the case along with a member on here HoHoHo who has good contacts in the VTTS org. Both parties want to make it happen - a 500 or more PH members cars.

Main aim being to raise funds for the Vulcan to ensure it can get through it's final season - costs approx £2m per year and they raise it eveyr year against the odds, all from ordinary blokes like us and one or two rich benefactors - no Lottery or Government funding.

Would make a great dsy out, especially if it's a day when it goes off for a display and returns a few hours later (free mini air show!!)

We are S series TVRs owners looking for different locations to visit/explore, could probably find 10 or more interested folk, if I could put a link with the info on our home site on PH.

Because of the logistics with Doncaster being a live airport, and our wish to have the cars able to be photographed with the Vulcan, there is a lot to sort out... Therfore it is expected that this won't happen before end of March.

What we would like is as many as might be interested to indicate intention to attend, so that the organisers can show a list to the relevant parties that it is worth doing

I'm just waiting on confirmation for a Saturday visit in April with a tour, tea and photo shoot with the Surrey mob alongside the Vulcan. I'll post when I hear more.
