I can't possibly be the first person to have put up a thread about this but can't seem to find any others!

Jesus.

For a start most of them aren't even proper Geordies.

It was all pretty vacuous, but I'm not sure why the local news were decrying it as a totally false representation of people in the North East, the bits that were shot in town looked like an Attenborough documentary to me!

Yes, there's a LOT more to life here than what is shown, but if you focus on the nightlife it was pretty accurate I reckon. Seriously, put a load of people that age in a house with lots of booze, a Shagpad and a Hot Tub and the outcome was predictable.

Strangely it's ended up on my planner to see what happens this week...

I might watch this just to see if it's as absurd as people have made it out to be!

"I'll be on it, like a car bonnet,".......

From the same country that brought you Shakesphere, Keats, Wordsworth, Dickens & Wilde.rolleyes

I can feel my IQ dropping when I watch the trailer. To watch the programme would be like having my brain sucked out through my nose with a straw, while a rabid dog chewed off my wedding vegetables.

I just don't need that much pain in my life.

As much as an oxymoron as it seems, it's like a cut price jersey shore. Elements are exactly the same. There is a snooki, Jwow, Vinni, MVP style group and a situation aproximation with insane abs.

The dialogue though, it makes the guido's look like brain surgeons. I think it's probably pitched at the americans though as they pitch geordies as an aspirational group everyone wants to be like. They even sat one isn't a geordie as she is from middlesborough. No st. I don't think geordie and guido translate as there is no geographic necessity for being a guido other than itallian american ancestory. The douchebag shore would have been more apt but it doesn't flow as well.

Still it's good car crash TV.

I actually watched a few clips of this on the MTV website. Personally I would like a full and frank apology from any Geordie PH'ers for infecting my airwaves with this bilge hehe

This. Yet another 'aspirational show' for women and idiots.

I nearly started a thread last week after tripping over it on sky anytime last week, but thought it just beyond ph...

It's so very very bad, it is unintentionally funny. Coming from Middlesbrough I was shocked and disgusted that Holly who apparently went to my old school should dare to call herself a Geordie and aspire to the "Geordie lifestyle". Although seeing her party piece, and alcohol induced amnesia I hope she never comes back although their general desperation to be famous I can't imagine she'll hurrying back, for the shame.

As to 3 of the blokes, strange bad tans, a gym self obsession, getting your pump on, they almost seem gay, while most of the women are anything but ladies. Particularly funny to see one rolling around on the toilet floor in a giant pink romper suit, pissed as a fart, clearly had already pissed her pants, shortly thereafter seen and heard vomiting in the toilet, good of her new mate to hold her hair back.

I'm afraid Geordies are dangerously close to scousers now in terms of believing they, as a people, are something special. When they are not.

It was only spoilt by their surprise of an employer turning up. Up till then I was titillated, and disgusted in equal measure. Like rubber necking at the worst car crash tv.

Episode 2, tonight, might have to series link it on the sky planner. As much as I loath myself for doing it. I like laughing AT the idiots a bit more.

If it were real, it'd be just about watchable for the cringe value, but as it is all scripted/setup scenarios, I don't see the point of the program.

I'm sure I'll get bored very quickly, as almost as a rule I hate and have avoided like the plague big brother, x factor, im a celeb etc, etc. "reality" tv is to blame for so much, dumbing of tv, along with rolling news, dumbing down the news. However every now and again i'll drop in on some trash tv.

I liked Jersey Shore, the characters were actually likeable and seemed to have fun. I've subjected myself to 2 episodes of the geordies and I have no empathy for them and the people make me feel a bit sick - don't think i'll watch again. I'm sure they've found some of the biggest tossers in the UK with st haircuts and got them on this show.

I've got to be honest, it genuinely didn't look that heavily scripted to me, the fight looked very authentic compared with the many drunken squabbles I've seen in town.

That's not to say it wasn't utterly predictable, stick a load of immature individuals in a house with a pile of alcohol and hey presto, car crash tv!

The same goes for the jaunt into town, send them out with massive egos and a camera crew and you're gonna need the bouncers close by...

One of them is a mackem.....and from first hand experience, she is exactly like what she is on tv, which makes me think its not scripted at all, but as above, however terrible it is, you cant help watching it hurl
