Did anyone used to watch this back in the day?

In which case, perhaps you can help with something that has been bugging me for a while.

Do you recall a sketch they did involving Hugh Laurie presenting the sports news?

It involved him presenting the football scores and telling people to look away now if they didn't want to see the results and then proceeding to read them out aloud.

Realising his mistake, he apologies and starts again and this time tells the audience to cover their ears and the results then proceed to flash on the screen.

It was all done in Hugh Lauries usual buffonery way and was, at the time, a giggle.

I never used to watch the show but saw this clip some years later but can't for the life of me track it down which is making me wonder if it indeed was Hugh Laurie.

Anyone able to shed any light on this?

I always remember a line referring to opal fruits, with the tag, 'on me? On me sir?'
Dunno why but always liked that

Which will mean nothing if you didn't see the original!

Laurie was an old man in a nursing home and Fry was a gently camp care home assistant. Laurie kept demanding "Where's me cocoa?" while berating Fry for being stuck in a nursing home looking after a sad old man instead of being out living his life and "nestling his head in the breasts of Nepalese maidens,". Very funny and slightly sad at the same time.
