The Wildest Dream - Conquest of Everest
Discussion
On Iplayer at the moment, a documentary on the summit attempt of Everest by George Mallory and Sandy (Andrew) Irvine in 1924.

Loads of footage from the time but also follows two modern climbers (Leo Houlding is one) attempting the climb from the North Side and having Sherpas remove the ladder from the 2nd Step so that they can climb it free as would have been done in 1924.
This is one of the best Everest documentaries I've seen , narrated by Liam Neeson and featuring some very spectacular footage as always I'm blown away by what these early climbers managed to achieve with the equipment they had at the time.
Such a shame we'll never know if Mallory ever made it to the summit with his climbing partner Sandy. From this documentary though it seems it was possible with the gear they had.
The BBC more than earns their licence fee yet again showing stuff like this. Superb.
