Mentioned in the other thread about this, how Space Oddesy 2001 takes on a whole new level when u watch it in the dark with good headphones that block out all other sounds.

So what films, albums, or anything else is accentuated so well in this manner?

Dark side of the moon does it for me too.

Any other suggestions?

'Equinoxe' by Jean Michel Jarre, listened to from start to finish, uninterrupted, on headphones. Bliss.

There was an (allegedly) KLF track called "Space" that I had a copy of back in the early 90s. I say allegedly, because I've not managed to find hide nor hair of it since.

Anyway, it wasn't music, just the audio equivalent of passing through space, through dust clouds, past satellites etc. Obviously not scientifically accurate, what with no one hearing you scream etc, but the stereo separation was excellent. It only really resonated when wearing headphones with the lights off.

I can't remember which it was and Google is failing me, but I seem to recall from my head-fi days that someone had two different releases of their latest album with one being specifically mastered to be listen to on headphones. I thought it was Bjork, but it doesn't seem to be.

Quite a few artists have binaurally recorded albums that are good on headphones.

Some of the early stereo recordings are belting for this.
Because stereo was new and special and they made a big deal of it.
My mates dad had a recording of the 1956 TT race (or some similar year).

It was an hour of "and here comes Bert Shuttleworth on his special"

Wish You Were Here - more Floyd and "A Day At The Races" by Queen which has that nice fade out, fade in.

I also like the "Against Perfection" album by Adorable though you probably won't have heard of it.

Queen's "Prophets Song" On Night At The Opera has a nice left to right ear ping pong effect.

Oh and "Future Games" by Fleetwood Mac and "Woman of a Thousand Years" on the same album.

Oh and Rush "2112"...
