I'm a dino fan so I'll watch it but it does seem a bit over the top. I think the plan for the programme is to introduce some of the new species of dinos that have been unearthed since Walking With Dinosaurs ten years ago. Having said that, some of the ones shown in the trailer look like old favourites - such as Styracosaurus.

It looks like quite a few will be of the feathered variety ttoo. It certainly is looking as if quite a few species of dinsoaurs were feathered.

LOL, I hope they don't finish with '..But due to runaway climate change and the proliferation of too many species, they died out....what does this teach us........"

But it does seem like it was some sort of climate change that did them in. Although I doubt that T Rexs charging around in 4 x 4s was the cause of that climate change.

hehe true, but it will be interesting to see if they really can't help themselves.

(Just bought the excellent Earth Story boxset from Amazon, now THAT is everyhting that the BBC used to do (and still do, sometimes) so well.

I was under the impression they were already on the slippery slope. The asteroid just hurried things along and forced a change in evolution that may not have happened without the impact.

If the dinos didn't fart so much it would have all been OK.

It's still only a theory. The fossil record is so patchy that trying to identify a downward thrend in speciation is quite difficult.
I am still not convinced that it was "the asteroid wot done it". There seems to have been quite a lot going on in the earth's geology towards the end of the Cretaceaous 65 million years ago which was making life difficult for all sorts of plants and animals - not just dinosaurs.

The Atlantic was opening up with massive amounts of volcanic activity along what we now recognise as the mid-Atlantic ridge.
There was also massive vulcanism in the Deccan Traps region of India as the sub-continent rammed into Asia and pushed up the Himalayas (something that it is still doing).

If an asteroid did arrive at the scene (and there is strong evidence that one did) it was probably a killer punch rather than a sole cause.

I enjoyed it, the visuals have been improved a lot since the original series.
I enjoyed it too, however I thought the CGI was quite poor considering they claimed it was the latest CGI technology?

I liked it but half hour was a tad too short I thought. I think an hour and they could had a better show.

I gave it a miss as I didn't understand how the CGI on the trailers could look worse than a 10 year old series of Walking with Dinosaurs.

Grrrrr I'm a dinosaur..... sorry I can't help it, relic from undergrad vertibrate paleo lectures.

No one knows what killed off the dinosaurs. I've read loads of papers, chances are it was a combination of a whole load of stuff. Their are some bat st mental creationists who put forward ideas that god smited them and have them dinosaur aids, disease isn't that far fetched but it was the whole 'snoring' aspect that tickled me
