I remember the days when End of Sep/ Beginning of Oct' it used to be Halloween all over the place, then the minute it passed, it was straight into Christmas stuff.

But crimbo stuff now is a joke, they've had stuff for sale in the supermarkets since August for gods sake.

I think I saw it to, was it the one with the turkey reading The Sun?

They could at least get Halloween and Bonfire night out of the way first before they start with christmas carry on.

I can see the twisted logic behind this.
Advertise the Xmas period early means an increase in revenue as peeps buy presents early.

However

What's the difference in getting that revenue now or November/December?
Those people who buy in September have done their xmas shopping already and won't then go shopping again for Xmas stuff! confused

Shops like having money in the till, rather than the promise that they WILL have money in the till.

That's only guaranteed after the event.

I think it's a huge mistake by the retailers to do all this early. People just feel pressurised to shop and think about the Xmas period and I sense a growing resentment towards this practice.
Especially how the economy is at the moment it's really tough for households and they will resist spending until it's unavoidable, I.E proper Christmas time.

Agreed I actually refuse to buy certain peoples products if they advertise in this way or they are just awful like the 'go compare' idiot and the foriegn dubbed adverts - if they cant be bothered to make an English version then we cant be that important to you ...grrrrrrrrr

I think it's in part due to the quarterly nature of business, once we get towards October they go into 'holiday season' mode.

Annoying though it is, I do like being able to buy mince pies early paperbag

Every year the ads start in September.

And every year we get threads moaning about it as if it's getting earlier biggrin
