well i have been watching top gear for as long as i remember but lately i have also been watching 5 gear.. last night i was watching Plato doing a lap of silverstone and the end comment was lets see if any other show can beat that lap time
i think this is very funny as top gear and 5 gear are always having a sarky pop at each other so why not put this to bed and have a shoot out to see who is the best....
so are u a topgear or a 5 gear guy or both

That would not go so well for top gear. They arent going to agree to race against a team with 2 very good drivers (Plato and now Ben Collins)

Top Gear is funnier. 5th gear is more hit and miss for me. There can be some good ones but some can be a bit dull.

5TH gear is a show about cars that the average person in the street might buy.

Top gear is a show about 3 blokes mucking about with cars, reviewing supercars out of most people price range and having a laugh.

They don't compete with each other in the ratings imo, because they are totally different shows.

Fifth gear is, largely, a program about cars. Top gear is a car themed chat-show.

Personally, I prefer shows about cars. Car themed interviews with celebrities I've never heard of who clearly have no interest in cars are as cringe-worthy as they are dull.

Clarkson has a big mouth and that, more than anything else, has got him where he is today. I admire him for making money from the subject which we all enjoy, but I'd rather watch paint dry than listen to him spouting nonsense about cool walls and similar ste.
Now then, the idea of Clarkson lined up against Plato to race or compare lap times? roflroflrofl

Slightly off topic, but wasn't Fifth Gear postponed for the cricket a couple of months back, when is it coming back?

Thats simple. Give Clarkson something with a turbo and Jason something NA and he just wont turn up as its unfair.

Both for me. They each have their plus points, and the bottom line is there are not enough TV shows to satisfy the needs of a petrolhead, so we need both these shows to continue.

Hi I just hate it when on these programes, especially top gear, they talk about, oh and car A it's only 79 grand 3 grand cheaper than car B as if we all have a small mortguage to spend on cars, I don't think they live in the real world, all three of them multi millionairs

People want to see those cars though, not the sort of sub £1000 pieces of st that are the most common on the road rolleyes

I quiet agree, although for me they have changed the format to a comedy show with cars now,I agree also it must be what the viewers want, but 5th gear is a more car orientated show now,not as polished but more of a mix, but even here they are starting to copy T/G with the comedy antics starting to creep in, although 5th gear has VBH

I know what you mean but unfortunately neither show seems to know exactly how to appease their viewership *shrugs shoulders*

Both for me.

Top Gear for a laugh and something to watch on a Sunday evening.

5th Gear for genuine honest car tests from little euro box's to the top wrung supercars, aswell as defiantly "un annoying" presenters ....

Clarkson is funny, quick and intelligent, as is May...Hammond is an afterthought...the show is good entertainment.

Fifth Gear has Tiff, who is a great driver, Plato who is also a great driver but the most wooden uninteresting human being ever to appear on TV.....and then there's the squealing toff...enough said. It remains a festival of sideways drift.... Nothing more.

Hammond was a lot more entertaining before he used his head as a 300mph tent-peg, can't just get rid of him though!

He's Ernie to Clarksons 'Eric'....sets him up to deliver the quips...nothing more.
