Didnt know whether to post this in TV or computers, I think its more relevant here.

Im basically posting this to justify my voyeuristic tendancies which, in this day of you tube/live leak etc has made it evermore easy to see images that inform but also disturb me.

Over the last couple of days I have seen an evil dictator shot in the head after being sodomised, a top Moto GP rider having his helmet ripped off his head and sliding face down on the tarmac at 100mph and now a 2 year old child being run over by both wheels of a truck and left for dead after being passed by 18 people before being helped by the 19th....she died minutes later.

I'm sitting here in a bit of a daze, questioning my morals, why did I click on that link? What made me want to see those images?

I'm sure some of you will say that it serves me right for having such tendencies but I bet you've done it yourself. The internet is a wonderful thing but all that information can be a bit overwhelming sometimes! frown

I've not seen the other two but seeing the Marco Simoncellis accident has had me upset all day. These videos just shouldn't be available. It's human nature to be curious and click the link but the fact is it shouldn't be there to click.

Death is a part of life and in some respects we are fairly insulated from it in this country. Humans are in the main evil creatures who will hurt others.

However, there will always be links which I will not click on.

Agree still some links I HAVE to click on in duty of moderation, on PH that I'd rather hadn't.

What I something fail to understand is WHY you would feel the need to post such links?

You don't have to click on any link, you have a choice.

However, I do agree that sometimes links are posted by people with questionable motives.

same here. yes I've still not seen "two girls, one cup"

I'd like to know what made the OP want to see a baby get ran over by a truck and killed? what part of that description sounds like something you'd WANT to see????

As part of my duty as a moderator I feel that I DO have to click on those links posted on this website.

I have witnessed a head on crash where a person was thrown through the driver side window, after hitting the door pillar on the way, cracking his skull before ending up dead on the side on to the road.

I have also witnessed my dad die in front of me, after breaking his back diving onto rocks in Greece at 8 years old.

It shocked me, but life moves on. The things posted on the internet are in the public domain and as such it is up the viewer to watch them, something I never had the privilege of doing.

Death is part of living and as such should be seen, as it makes us feel thankful to be alive.

Hmm for me, I woke up early and heard simoncelli had a bad crash so went on YouTube. I had no idea I was about to watch his death.

However... To already know what is coming, like this baby one in a road that you've mentioned, is a bit different. I wouldn't click on it. Can't imagine why you would.

The problem is - I'm pretty sure everything you list above has been shown on main stream media as well.

The BBC showed the Dan Wheldon crash, various newspapers printed several large, detailed photos of the accident, same for the Gaddafi videos, and the Chinese baby stories.

Not sure if they've shown the Moto Gp accident today as I haven't caught the news.

The main news channels seem to be getting more and more lax in what they will and won't show.

I just think its a lack of respect, if you died in a fatal accident would you want images of it everywhere for your loved ones to see?

The link said 'Shocking Video from China'

As for 'Two Girls One Cup' thats just a question of 'each to their own'. No one gets killed and I'm pretty sure the girls in question are consenting.

Some things I know are out there I will simply NOT watch. Another thread i read today mentioned the Ken Bigley video. I never want to see it. Some things should not be out there. Even some of the things on YouTube (obviously fatal car crashes etc).

As an (unpaid?) moderator on a motoring website, rather than part of a real-life job, if you felt strongly enough that a particular link might display distasteful images then don't click on it.

Well, as bad as some things are, this is the reality of the things that occurr in the world. War, accidents, etc, are somewhat removed from us, and all we see is the little news snippets, or Hollywood renditions etc. it's not nice, but I think some folk require a kick in the arse when it comes to these things.
