Yes... S10, despite the fact that the old RD ended on S8, it's due to begin filming with the old cast in January 2012, and is slated for transmission during September 2012.

It's going to be filmed infront of a live studio audience, and unfortunately the tickets for this have already been snapped up.

up to season 6 was class, from season 7 onwards was very poor indeed,it had run its lifespan,& should be left alone,as soon as they had a special effects budget it was doomed.
as a big fan id love to be proven wrong, cant see it though.

This has been on the cards for a while, but after season 6 it just went st.

I hope it comes back good, and I did like back to earth it was not as bad as some of the later seasons.

I also had the email last week about the tickets.

as much as I love RD, I feel it needs to be put to bed now.

Agreed

Writing, producing, and directing

Grant and Naylor wrote the first six series together. Grant left in 1995, to pursue other projects, leaving Naylor to write the final two series with a group of new writers

I really hope it's good.

Danny John Jules is looking mighty old now though, here he is in Death in Paradise:

And given that he's a robot - how do they explain Kryten's....erm....expansion in the midriff area?

DJJ didn't look that old when I saw him last year at the bike show.

In retrospect I really wish they'd left it as the cliffhanger at the end of season 6. Season 7 was the nadir and it has marginally improve since then, so there is some hope......

This could be interesting, season 7 and 8 do get better with age, after watching the box set recently they aren't bad now. Season 6 will always be the best though. I just can't see what they're going to do with after the farce that was back to earth?

Can't say I'm looking forward to this. Without Rob Grant, it's just not going to work and it'll just end up as a bunch of old people recycling old jokes which should've died with dignity sometime in the mid-nineties.

Easy.

He has his operating system updated from Windows 3.1 to Windows 7

And in true Microsoft style, it simply won't run on the existing hardware - so they had to upgrade the motherboard, RAM and HDD to cope.

Of course, in Red Dwarf land, the new motherboard is Huuuuuuuuge, and the body had to expand to make it fit.

Simples.

If it takes as long as, and sucked as much as the movie, then they may as well not bother.

Kryten has quite a few optional extras for his "chassis" already.

Yep. It's the same with the books:

Red Dwarf (Rob Grant & Doug Naylor) - funny
Better Than Life (Rob Grant & Doug Naylor) - funny
Backwards (Rob Grant) - funny
Last Human (Doug Naylor) - terrible

Since series 7 it's been downhill - they have lifted the jokes from the old episodes but have no idea how to knit them into a plot
It's a bit like watching an old boxer make a comeback, you want it to go well but know it will end in tears

I thought last Human was OK. A lot different in tone though so not "funny" but a decent story.
