Something I had forgotten about since the esoteric days of "World of Sport" in the eighties, a programme that sandwiched in with the standard Soccer, Rugby and Horse based nonsense you would get random things like Curling from Canada or some obscure racket sport. The best things were however the more unusual Motor Sports, I mentioned Rallycross a few weeks ago but occasionally you would get,

Stock Cars

Banger Racing

Bus Racing

Clubman Rallying

Caravan Racing

and Tractor Pulling, this seems like a fun sport, I mean how can you ignore a motorsport where some of the vehicles have four or more V8 engines or even turbines, it seems to be exclusively the preserve of Americans, People from the Netherlands and Norfolk farmers. I have never seen it on telly since "World of Sport" but there are loads of videos on youtube, its kind of drag racing with weight gain, on mud with a hint of "Ooo Arr, get orf moi laaand"

No idea if they still do but eurosports used to cover the main championships

They also used to cover the icelandic hillclimb buggys which were always good to watch!

Always enjoyed Swamp Buggy racing.

Just don't get stuck in the "Sippy" hole which is near enough 6 feet deep.

Motors TV show the european champs every year. I quite like watching it especially the mega turbo diesel motors pumping black smoke out with the turbo whistling away

Would love to see a farmer actually using one of these

As a kid, I used to love the Banger Racing, which seemed to feature a large number of ancient "bank job" Jags. Absolute bedlam to my 8 year old eyes.

It's big in Lancashire too - I first saw tractor pulling in the 1980s there. As you say, impressive stuff.
