Bullitt chase remake - Alcatraz
Discussion
Rubbish. The Mustang looks good, but if they were trying to get any sort of feeling of the original they failed. Slight chuckle at the Green VW Beetle...
The original: (in case you haven't seen it)

Not half bad I thought for a probably quite tightly budgeted TV show. As mentioned loving the green Beetle.
I agree. considering the original is iconic and also shot on actual roads being used, unlike the Alcatraz homage which was shot under a much tighter budget and serious H&S restrictions, it was a pretty good effort for a TV show. The gloriours V8 roar shone through in both. No stupid music in the background either ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
Stupid Music ?
Thats is Lalo Schrifin, its part of the original, it makes it, it dates it to its time and I never found it obtrusive.
Was impressed with this, evne if it is a bit curtailed, nice job and I think captured the original nicely, the Mustang even managed some axle tramp like the original, I thought Ford might have sorted that by now.

Shows the two reasons I can't watch an American car chase.
1) I could walk round those corners fasters than those cars could do them. Whoever told american film directors that the fastest way round a corner was on opposite lock with your back end in the air needs shooting.
2) Cars with fifty thousand gear changes to show the mind numbingly stupid audience that a never ending supply of gears = fast.
It does American car reputations no good at all because it looks like you could beat both those cars with a 1.1 fiesta

It's for drama. You understand what film is for, right?Captain Muppet said:

I can't watch Ronin without thinking "thats a RHD car shot so I can only see the fake wheel in the LHS". I wish I'd never been told that.
